Bogus Gold

Meh!!!

Late Night Babble
You're reading this? What the heck for? Shouldn't you find weightier, wittier, or at least more prompt sources of entertainment?

Yet you're here. I should accomodate as best I can. Pull up a chair or something. I don't have much. But here you go.

I joined Netflix today. First three movies should be shipped this way Monday. Got the next three already in the can. Wonder how this is going to go. Feels like I'm cheating on Hollywood Video. Which itself feels like I'm cheating on Blockbuster. How did so much guilt get intertwined with renting movies?

Anyone else out there a fan of John Prine? One of the truly great songwriters of the latter 20th century in my opinion. Listening to him at the moment. Killing the Blues.

The wife is baking brownies at the moment. I'm drinking bourbon. The kids are asleep. 'tis a good way to be. But like all things, it won't last.

Taking the boy to see his first movie in a theatre tomorrow - Madagascar. He seems less anxious than his parents. It's a daddy and boy solo trip too. We'll see how it goes.

I should finish the tomato planting tomorrow. Anyone interested in growing an heirloom tomato plant or two, drop me a line. I'll have extras.

Enough for now. Ciao.

Funny you should bring up Prine, I just downloaded some his songs from Napster for the MP3 player. He does have a way with words!

You think you're cheating? My wife works in a library and borrows a stack of DVDs each week. Basically, we are renting movies for free. It's a nice way to preview, since we seem to end up buying a significant portion of what we borrow.

Madagascar
is on my to do list. The first movie that I took my second son to see, when he was about two years old, was Ice Age. He laughed himself silly watching the Skrat at the beginning, and kept laughing during the whole movie. That is how I could tell it was worth taking the kids to see. From the previews, Madagascar looks wonderfully zany as well. Please give us a review.

I'm currently working up a song list from iTunes of Prine, Steve Goodman and David Bromberg for a "Earl of Old Towne" collection. So, in JP's words, "Hello in there."

We've been with Netflix since January of '04 - and I think we've rented a couple hundred DVDs in that time. What I really like is being able to order up old, seldom seen classics (foreign and domesstic) or get TV show collections (like the all of the original Jonny Quest cartoons!). Service has been first-rate, we've never had a problem. For some reason, though, I'm not watching as many movies since I started blogging.

"Dear Abby" would have to be my favorite.
