Oh well. The Vikings were always the least desirable spot for him to end up in the eyes of Green Bay management. Because, apparently, he wasn't as good as Aaron Rodgers. But was probably good enough to beat the Aaron "A-Ron" Rodgers lead Packers this season. That kind of thinking is going to make Ted Thompson real popular after every A-Ron interception and incompletion this season.
At least I feel better about the Vikings facing the A-Ron Green Bay squad rather than Favre again this season.
In other news, certain self-proclaimed Packer-prognosticators have a little egg on their face this evening. You can see it next to the dried bratwurst and cheese curd residue on the right cheek... no... up a bit from the dried flecks of beer foam... right there.

No. Least desirable because he would be a huge upgrade over T-Jack - that gaping hole in your offense (along with your wide receivers and right side O line).
"That kind of thinking is going to make Ted Thompson real popular after every A-Ron interception and incompletion this season."
Hey! That sounds like a prognostication! A non-tongue-in-cheek one at that.
Second, the Pack would have loved to have him back if he didn't wait until June - when the schemes had been drafted, the play book set and all the other vital personnel had been apprised of their roles - to decide that maybe he sorta kind of had the feeling he might want to play, after announcing his retirement.
Third, they've been grooming A-Rodg. McCarthy's system was built with an eye toward his eventual ascention to the starting role. And the Packers' management doesn't exactly suck at talent evaluation (see, eg, last season). If A-Rog sucks as much as a bunch of rubes who think the Vikes would be just fine with T-Jack think he does, doncha think that getting Favre back on the squad and under center would have been the first option for the Pack, rather than the third (out of four)?
Fourth, quick name the teams on which the following legends ended their careers:
Vince Lombardi
Reggie White
Emmitt Smith
Joe Montana
Hey we're very familiar with the whole quarterback grooming process. We've got that system ourselves in Vikings land. I didn't realize it was looking good enough to emulate, but then I'm no McCarthy. Welcome cheeseheads to the "Good defense, solid running game... now if only we had a quarterback" club.
Good point about the Packers trying to help Favre end his career Hall of Fame style by playing for another team though.
