Just another happy cash cow being milked to produce Hopenchange. Moo.

Mischke Nixed!
A tragic day in Twin Cities radio. Tom "T.D." Mischke, the last truly original radio talent in the Twin Cities metro, was fired today.

I will have more to say about this. For now I just turn to Mitch and flip a choice finger in the direction of Hubbard Broadcasting.

You know, I could never get into the Mischke thing. Lots of people whose taste I respect in other areas were wild about the guy. Every time I heard him he was rambling incoherently about something not that funny or insightful to begin with. Maybe he was like Soucheray, you just have to listen for a long time to get all the jokes and once you're invested, he's the best thing ever. Yesterday Lileks wrote about all kinds of "special effects" he used on his show. I never heard anything that organized during the times I tuned in. Maybe I missed his "golden age"?

Margaret,

All I can say is you kind of had to be there. It wasn't always the easiest show to drop in on randomly. And there was absolutely the vibe that increased your appreciation and understanding over time on so many levels... the recurring characters; the regular callers; an so much improvisation (a lot of it planned even though it didn't sound like it). But the main thing was the sense that his show could go in almost any direction at any time with no warning. From the most mundane and dull to comedy gold in five seconds. He did it so often and in so many ways it's just hard to explain unless you listened to it happen.

Yeah, I'm kinda with Margaret on this one. I never quite understood his appeal. My first, and really only, experience was a random dropper inner, and never quite got hooked.
